Carrots vs NuORDER

NuORDER is a global B2B platform built around how apparel and footwear brands sell to retailers. If you distribute food, you are in the wrong aisle.

What NuORDER is

Global B2B commerce, part of Lightspeed

NuORDER by Lightspeed calls itself “The global B2B commerce platform” and sells on “More sales. Higher sell-through. Fewer markdowns.” Its wholesale product is aimed at brands selling into retail, “from department stores to specialty and off-price retailers”, with a fully branded wholesale site, account-specific pricing and built-in reporting.

Built around the way fashion buys

Their Assortments product helps retailers “minimize overbuying, reduce markdowns, and increase profit margins”, catching duplicate buys with visual roll-ups and automating allocation with “localized size curves”. Size curves, sell-through and markdowns are the vocabulary of apparel and footwear, and the customers they name are consistent with it.

A marketplace of brands, and discovery inside it

They offer buyers “over 3,000 notable and emerging brands” in one place, discoverable by category, price point and trade show. For a brand trying to be found by retail buyers, that is a distribution channel and not just software.

Enterprise integration and a named services team

Integrations with “120+ ERP, PLM, and POS systems”, plus an account manager, onboarding specialist, integration consultant, integration engineer, 24/7 technical support and training programmes. PLM in that list is a garment-industry system, which tells you who this was built for as clearly as anything on their site.

What Carrots is

Food and drink, on a delivery run

Carrots is built for distributors selling food and beverage into venues: cafés, restaurants, hotels, pubs and aged care. Coffee, tea, produce, seafood, meat, bakery, beverage and broadline. Not apparel, and we would be a poor choice for it.

Repeat ordering, not seasonal buying

The buyer is a chef or a venue manager reordering most of what they had last week. Order guides rather than a catalogue to browse, multiple guides for a customer that orders as several sites, standing orders for the volume that never changes, and reordering that takes a minute at 5am.

Cut-offs, delivery days and perishability

The storefront knows the cut-off, the delivery day and the account's terms before the order is placed, public holidays shift those dates for everybody at once, and products can be restricted to the multiples you actually pick.

Australian by default

GST with per-product treatment, ABN validated on trade applications, compliant tax invoices rendered from your own template, and card, PayTo, BECS direct debit, Afterpay and Zip.

Where the answers actually differ

No ticks and no scores. A tick means whatever the vendor filling it in wants it to mean.

Choose NuORDER if

  • You are an apparel, footwear or accessories brand selling wholesale into retail. That is who this is built for, and it is a leader there.
  • Your buyers commit seasonally, and assortments, size curves and markdowns are part of the conversation.
  • You sell across several countries, currencies and languages.
  • You want a marketplace where retail buyers discover brands, which is a sales channel rather than a software feature.
  • You need integrations into PLM as well as ERP and POS.

Choose Carrots if

  • You distribute food or drink, and the same venues order on a rhythm rather than by season.
  • Cut-offs, delivery days, standing orders and perishability are the constraints that actually bite.
  • You want Australian GST, ABN validation and compliant tax invoices handled directly.
  • You want your ERP left alone as the system of record rather than replaced.
  • You would rather deal with the people who wrote the software than with an account manager.

How this was written

Everything above about NuORDER comes from their own public material, read in September 2026. Nothing here is drawn from a private evaluation, a third-party review site, or a customer’s spreadsheet.

Products change. If you work at NuORDER and something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it — that is a better outcome for us than being caught out by a prospect. NuORDER is their trademark and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with them.

Still not sure which fits?

Tell us what you distribute, what you run on, and what your reps do all day. If the answer is NuORDER, we will say so.
