TeaLive

An Australian specialty tea wholesaler

The first distributor on the platform, and the reason it exists. They sell a deep, story-heavy range to cafés, restaurants and hotels, and were running the whole trade side on email, phone calls and a retail website that was never built for wholesale pricing.

The situation

What they were dealing with

01

A retail site doing a wholesale job

Their product content already lived in a retail storefront, which was good at selling a single tin to one person and had no concept of an account price, a trade agreement or an order minimum. Wholesale orders arrived beside it, by email, and were re-keyed.

02

Pricing that only some people knew

Trade rates varied by account and by volume, and the rules for them lived in a mix of spreadsheets and experience. Nothing enforced them at the point an order was taken.

03

A range that needs explaining

Tea sells on origin, brewing method and provenance. Every one of those questions came back to the team by phone, because there was nowhere a venue could go and read the answer.

What was built

What they actually got

Described in terms of the work, because that is the part we can evidence.

The catalogue came across, imagery and all

The full range was imported and matched to the item codes the business already used, with product imagery carried over from the retail storefront rather than re-shot. Product pages carry the origin and brewing detail that used to be answered by phone.

Order guides per venue

Each account gets its own curated lists, grouped the way the venue is organised, so the weekly repeat order is a few taps rather than a trawl through the catalogue.

Pricing enforced where the order is taken

Price books per account, negotiated agreements with expiry dates, and quantity breaks that fire as the cart is built. The price a venue sees is the price on the invoice, because both come from the same resolver.

Money and freight handled end to end

Compliant Australian tax invoices with GST and ABN rendered from their own template, card and direct debit through Stripe, and multi-carrier delivery with free-over thresholds and tracking.

A live connector to the ERP

Items, trade accounts and the price lists assigned to them are read directly out of the ERP, so the catalogue and the account pricing in the portal are the ones the business already runs on. Accounts are pulled on demand, because the ERP holds tens of thousands of customers and only a fraction trade online.
